As we expand to meet the demands of a growing customer base, we are looking for a dynamic and skilled Senior Design Engineer to help shape the future of architectural lighting.

Position Overview

We are seeking an entry level Design Engineer to support the design and development of cutting-edge architectural lighting products. The ideal candidate will bring a background in industrial design, design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), and product development within the architectural lighting industry. This is a hands-on, in-person role requiring close collaboration with engineering, product development, and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and documentation in accordance with company and industry standards.
  2. Product Design & Development: Support concept-to-launch design initiatives for new and innovative architectural lighting fixtures with a focus on aesthetics, performance, and manufacturability while maintaining schedule and achieving cost targets.
  3. DFMA Implementation: Ensure products are designed for efficient manufacturing and ease of assembly while maintaining high quality and design intent.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, marketing, and operations to translate design concepts into commercially viable products.
  5. Prototyping & Testing: Oversee prototyping efforts and participate in performance testing, validation, and design iteration.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field.
  2. 1-3 years of experience designing commercial architectural lighting products.
  3. Understanding of manufacturing systems, extrusions, sheet metal design, optics, and thermal management.
  4. Proven expertise in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  5. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including die casting, extrusion, stamping, and injection molding.
  6. Experience managing engineering documentation and workflows in a PDM/PLM environment.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong sense of design aesthetics.
  8. Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  1. Experience with lighting simulation tools (e.g., AGi32, DIALux).
  2. Familiarity with UL standards and lighting certification processes.
  3. Exposure to Lean Product Development or Agile methodologies.
